Currently a project coordinator. Daily tasks involve logging risks, actions, issues and dependencies. Analysing documents to understand project scope. Involved in the building of machines and user acceptance testing. Attending meetings and shadowing Project Managers.
At work, I have learnt lots about project management. At university, I am exposed to many new topics e.g. programming and data modelling. I was able to get PRINCE2 Foundation funded by CGI.
Its been great so far.
I feel valued by my team and by the company at large. I have met people from all levels of the organisation and all have been very friendly and approachable.
So far so good. If you want to get work within the team, you have to put yourself forward and be open to new opportunities. The university is very understanding and appreciate that I am working four days a week. I have received a lot of training from my teammates.
The university involve the students in the shaping and running of the programme, they have been great.
From my various managers, mentors and teammates I have received a great deal of support regarding a broad range of issues.
The city I live in is quite expensive, at times it has been difficult to make ends meet but I'm assured that pay increases as part of the GLA programme.
I have been to many social events held by the team as well as the sports and social club. I live in a central area of the city, so there is lots to do.
