Project Management Apprentice Review

I provide support to project managers with the planning and execution of projects on site. I am responsible for the control, monitoring and communication of a specific Value Stream of projects as well as the governance process. I also strive to Improve the Project Management Capability on site through training and support.

I have improved many soft skills, including communication methods and the ability to adapt my approach depending on the personality of my stakeholder. I have improved my confidence during presentations and my general knowledge of the pharmaceutical industry. I am now competent in the use of most Microsoft applications including visio and project. The latter being a completely new skill that I have been trained in. I am also able to use excel at an advanced level.

My programme is an incredible experience that I have been given as it balances my development with real life experiences, and the environment I'm in provides me with a safe space to learn and improve my understanding of project management as well as the ability to work in an office environment. the opportunities provided has given me an excellent kick start into my worklife

I feel extremely valued. The opportunities in my job and outside of my job is very varied. Ranging from courses in the Lake District looking to increase my confidence and teamworking skills with other apprentices. Being given opportunities that for a young apprentice is quite daunting, clearly shows the trust they have in me.

My structure was built before I even joined, and despite a slight issue in the beginning, once the main body of my training began, it has been tailored to my strengths and weaknesses without jeopardising the overall original plan. The training is well delivered and everyone in the team is aware of my progress.

I receive a great amount of support, ranging from personal 1:1 visits, webinars, constant contact with my tutor, and a great amount of classroom sessions that have all been informative and helpful in achieving the overall result in both the exam and end point assessment presentation that they have supported me throughout for.

Often I am given time away to complete external course work, and they also give me the opportunities to put the training I have received into action by allowing me to develop what I have been taught in the classroom. This especially helps me to put everything into perspective and improve on my knowledge and skills

The salary is greater than expected for an apprenticeship, and with the package on top it does help to set me up for the future, with a share save scheme, free private healthcare, a recognition/rewards scheme, bonus and pay rises to ensure that it is not just the salary I am provided but the overall package

The opportunities outside of work include the chance to socialise and connect with the other apprentices within GSK through a variety of ways, including casual socials set up by apprentices, as well as more formal ones that have been planned by the company. This can sometimes run over a week or weekend

Everything that I have received from the support and training, the pay package and benefits have been greater than expected. The trust they hold in the youth and the opportunities I have been given have allowed me to set myself up for the future rather than just be used as a cheap resource

I would definitely recommend that you read up about the apprenticeship you are applying for as well as prepare to complete a tough recruitment process. Always be certain that your passion is what you are applying for as many other people will apply for the same role and they will definitely be enthusiastic, so you will need to be aswell
