I am an engineering apprentice. As part of my daily work I complete daily work orders and job requests. I also carry out planned maintenance as part of a preventative routine.
As part of my apprenticeship I have already achieved a B-Tec level 3 in engineering and a PEO in engineering. I am currently working towards a HNC in Mechatronics as well as a NVQ in operations and maintenance. I have attended a wide range of onsite course to ensure that I have the correct skills to complete my daily tasks. I have also been sent on an effective communications and negotiations course out side of work
I work as on my own and as part of a team in my daily tasks I enjoy learning from fully qualified technicians and solving problems for myself. I am enjoy working for a company where you can see the products that you make being used in every day life.
I receive jobs on a daily basis and once they are complete I receive feed back from my manager on how I well I have done them. For completing emergency jobs I have received employee recognition awards. As part of my apprenticeship I also attend careers events and I receive recognition for supporting the events.
There is a clear plan for the 4 years of my apprenticeship and as part of the plan I make 6 monthly rotations around the site. In each department I receive a full induction and training for the area. I attend college on a Tuesday and all of the courses are organised so I know what is happening ahead of time. There is an online calendar where all of my appointments and tasks are mapped out so I know what has to be done and when it needs to be complete.
I have a review with my training provider once a month where I discus progress and what I have to do. I can email my VTA at any time and I always receive a swift reply. I can receive support whenever needed through contacting the training centre.
I receive regular support form the engineering team on both work and college tasks. I regularly receive guidance from my manager on how to improve my work.
On my current salary I can happily cover all of my weakly costs. I can afford to travel to work in my own car.
Through working at GSK I have access to a GYM and social centre as well as a range of other sports and leisure activities.
Yes
I enjoy coming to work on a daily basis and I always have different jobs to complete. The team I work with is also good because they are always engaging and want me to learn.
Make sure you read the questions of the application form and link your answers to the GSK values
