At the moment I am in my 5th of 6 placements which is in Tornado Design. I work as part of a team that deals with quiries that come from our customers. My role is to complete the problems coming in regarding design and provide a solution. This means either making modifications to existing parts or making new ones on CATIA V5 software.
Yes during this placement I have been able to use CATIA V5 software competently and to a very high standard. I am always working on my team and communication skills as these are constantly being used.
The overall programme is good as you get to see a wide variety of different roles within a large business and the experiences you can achieve are second to none.
I am very apopreciated by my supervisor and am heavily involved within the team as I am carrying out the same work that they are.
Overall we do learn a lot and the structure of the programme is quite good but can sometimes lack in organisation as things can be planned badly and communication with the training centre can be a struggle at times.
I have a assessor that I see regularly and he will support me with as much advice possible and is always easily accessibleby phone or email.
My supervisor is very helpful and will always provide me with any information I may need.
As far as apprentices are concerened I believe we are the highest earners and when we qualify the wage is very good.
There are various activities that are available outside of work but a lot of the time it seems that favouristism is chosen.
Yes
The opportunities for the future are very good and the salary is too. The work that you can be involved in can also be very interesting.
Make sure you put in a lot of time researching about the company for the interview process.
