I am a mechanical fitter apprentice who's responsibility is to carry out planned maintenance on mechanical devices on site
Lifting and rigging, safety valve testing, using MEWPs
I really enjoy the programme and we are given additional task/experience which really add depth
I feel very valued part of GSK as we are seen as the future leaders of the site
The programme has a loose structure but is based on the experience we get, as time goes on the more we are able to do the more jobs we are responsible for
We get a visit from our instructors every three months until our third year where we visit them every month
Our employers are always encouraging us to take on more responsibility or asking us if there is anywhere we would like to get some experience to add to our capabilities in the company
My pay meets the costs of living adequately
There are team building events every year a charity day and a charity week
