The Engie graduate scheme is made up of four placements over two years. On the different placements you are exposed to a different area of the business. I have just started my second placement, so am still learning my role here. However at my previous contract I worked on Contract Performance at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital. A major part of my role there involved mitigate risk against failing to meet service level agreements with the client. This involved running daily reports, having open dialogue with the client and other teams on the contract. Another area of my responsibility at the hospital was within the finance team. I was responsible for generating the monthly finance reports provided to the client for billing.
I have learnt numerous skills ranging from excel skills to utilizing systems used on the contract, such as BI Launchpad, Maximo and SAP. I have also and am still studying towards a CMI qualification, which is and will provide me with the skills and techniques I need to be a successful manager in the future. I have also been lucky enough to undertake the Mental Health First Aid qualification. I have also taken part in external e learning modules.
I have really enjoyed the program since starting last year. The culture is perfect for me, with a focus on the future, sustainability and CSR practice, I have enjoyed the range of opportunities available along with the people I have met and worked with. I think it is an exciting company to work for and I am looking forward to continue the scheme.
I feel valued by Engie. I receive appreciation from my manager when I have helped contribute to certain tasks and in a more general appreciation of my work on site. Within the projects I have been involved with I have also ensured that I continue this and make the people in my team also feel appreciated and valued
The program is well structured and organized. There was an indepth and fun induction, providing a good introduction to the company and what it does. There is also a structured training programme, which has been clearly communicated. Feedback has been encouraged and changes have been made, showing collaboration and welcomed new ideas
I receive support from my training provider, with a tutor, key account manager and clear and accessible links to support and guidance.
I receive plenty of support from many people, both within the wider company and on the specific contract I am working on. Being part of the graduate team and having a line manager and head of talent to provide support and guidance has been invaluable, in both helping with careers decisions and on a more personal level. This is also duplicated as whilst on a placement you also have a line manager to assist your learning and help you whilst on the placement. There are numerous other support systems in place at Engie, such as the mentor scheme, with a senior manager within the company, and the buddy scheme, with another graduate further on in the scheme to assist you with both work, career and more personal aspects of work.
The salary meets my costs well. I am able to cover my living and travel costs, whilst still be able to have money for social activities. As a result of the placements on the scheme, moving is often required, in which the company assist in helping to cover some costs, which is a huge help.
There are numerous opportunities outside of work, ranging from the voluntary initiation, where all employees are allowed two days to complete a voluntary work. There are also numerous events run by the company from conferences to the YPN, allowing opportunity to network with other employees. There are also lots of charity led schemes to become involved in such as the Cycle to Paris.
Yes
I have had a great experience with the company so far and think, from speaking to other graduates on different graduate schemes, we are valued, provided with great opportunities and responsibilities and invested in.
I would say do you research on the company before you apply and answer questions. However when responding do not just recite the website, explain how you are a good fit for the company, making it personal. I actually enjoyed the assessment centre, the structure is enjoyable and the most important thing is to relax and be yourself.
