I am a Reprographics Apprentice, I'm given the tasks of printing bills and files that internal and external customers send through our email system daily. I interact with my other two co-workers and with the people who come pick their orders up also.
I've learned how to handle the freeflow core, Paris and how to handle the Xerox machines in my area. With this apprenticeship I'm learning about Business Administration and the work that goes into that role.
I like the work I'm set, as not one set of two days are the same, it can be either steady paced or fast paced, sometimes even slow. The company I work for and the people I'm with are respectful.
I feel like I'm respected by my manager, although some people I've came across can patronize me or treat me like I don't know what I'm doing, despite being here 7 months almost.
The structure of the programme has worked out reasonably well. The induction and training was a breeze, however the College side of this apprenticeship is something I dislike (Can be unreliable at times).
I receive a lot of support daily from my line manager, if there's something I need help with or if I have a query, he helps me right away, the same is followed with my mentor and manager.
I recieve a reasonable amount of support, if I have a problem, I'm answered and helped with it.
My Salary meets my costs fine.
There are a lot of opportunities offered to me, such as company events and what not. When I wasn't working I was job searching, and my friend recommended Engie to me.
No
A lot of my friends aren't interested in business administration, and I can't say I am either. Stepping into this apprenticeship I didn't know what was in store for me, but I like my job, however after the apprenticeship is over I'll be going elsewhere. I've had a reasonable experience.
Take better care and respect the apprentices. Young people like myself can come in and be intimidated by a lot, so a soft approach would help. That, and try give the apprentices an option or let them know about college further, for me that felt very rushed. QA As a college course isn't something I've enjoyed at all.
