My job title is Cyber Security Apprentice. Daily tasks involve email checking for malware etc and monitoring internet logs. I am currently working on a couple of projects, one of which involves a roll out of Firewall boxes to schools.
I have completed Word and Excel training courses, i already had a good understanding of both applications. However it has helped me understand quicker processes of ways to complete tasks. I believe i have developed my communication and confidence skills. This is due to communicating to new people every day which also goes hand in hand with developing confidence.
I am really enjoying my programme as it feels like there is something new to tackle every day while developing all skills and learning every signle day. The team i work in is a small team, however we work effficently and help each other when need be.
I feel valued by my team and manager, this is because i receive recognition of good work when its due. I also receive praise from other colleagues/customers when i have helped them with an issue.
I believe the structure of my training in work is steady and helpful. My training with QA could be better. I receive monthly 1-2-1 with my manager to discuss where i am and what objectives i have for the next month.
I receive support from some aspects of my training provider. My skills coach can be difficult to communicate with.
I receive a lot of support from the team, the manager and my mentor. If i have any issues or concerns they are always there to support and help me.
I live in a good location so travelling to work isn't a hassle and its fairly cheap. I believe the salary could be higher for the work i am doing as it is sometimes at great risk and importance. I am also on a higher level apprenticeship and i do not feel the salary reflects this.
There are a lot of opportunities outside of work to carry out sporting activities or volunteer to help the community.
Yes
This is mainly because of their attitude. It always feels relaxed and not intense and basically a fun place to work.
Applying to Engie was straight forward and simple. I didnt come across any problems while the application process was ongoing.
