I am doing the course as an infrastructure technician, I work with backups for big companies data, and ensure that any failed backups are resolved, or tickets are created so that the relevant teams/ departments can resolve it. I also get to do training in networking, Operating systems, Cloud, Business Processes, and coding and logic. I also have completed online courses which have taught me things like; network topologies, storage virtualisation, Virtual machines, networking devices, and many more
As someone who had more of a passion for IT than a knowledge in IT, I have gained loads of new skills and developed even more, I have gained more knowledge in things like word and excel, NetBackup and Remote desktops. I have gained new knowledge in anything to do with Storage Area Networks, Network Attached Storage, Cloud Storage and plenty of others
I thoroughly enjoy my course and the company I work for, it has helped me enjoy my passion for IT even more and has concreted the thought of working in IT as my life career, Its not only the work I do that I enjoy but also the other apprentices and staff I work with
Atos does a really good job of making you feel like a member of staff from the start, you receive the same benefits and responsibilities as full time staff members, and are included in all activities that they do, You are treated exactly the same whether you are an apprentice, a graduate, an intern or a member of staff
My programme is extremely well structured, we were given full clarity on when the courses are, what the courses are and what we will achieve by doing the courses, and of course we can contact our line managers or the apprentice team if we have any questions or issues with our course and work structure
QA, our training provider gives continuous support from the start, we are given a skills coach who comes out to see us every four weeks to review our progress, we are also free to email him if we have any issues or worries, and we have been given a variety of numbers and emails to contact if we don't feel comfortable talking to our skills coach
We have daily calls with our line managers which we can use to ask any questions or express any worries, we also have contact with them either through person, Skype, or email. We can contact our line managers any time and they try their hardest to help resolve any issues, and if they cant they give us the right resources and contacts to get it sorted as quick as possible
The apprentice pay at Atos is extremely good compared to the Minimum 3.50 an hour, this pay easily covers my car insurance, fuel, tax. As well as my Netflix subscription, my phone bills and my rent, and I still have plenty left over for savings and for treating myself. And continuing through the apprenticeship levels the pay gets better
Atos have plenty of out of work activities and opportunities, we take part in many charity events, in December we hosted a charity bike ride in which we raised forty one thousand pounds for a range of charities
Yes
I would recommend Atos because it is an amazing company to work for, we gain lots of technical knowledge and the training courses are brilliant and definitely provide skills for the future, The pay and benefits are incredible, and the staff are some of the nicest people you will meet, it is an absolutely fantastic place to work
One big tip I would give is that you do not need to worry about having technical knowledge, I applied with next to know technical knowledge at all, they are wanting people with the passion for IT and a brilliant attitude towards work and learning, and are wanting people who genuinely believe they want to make a career out of this
