I am a procurement apprentice and have taken on the role as "buyer". My roles include getting quotes from suppliers, getting funding requests approved, raising orders and amending them where needed. I also deal with Adhocs, change request forms, shortage updates and daily issues. I speak to customers and suppliers on a regular basis to maintain relationships. I have also been involved in a project to set up a tracker for my team to use so they can give customers a prompt response on forecast delivery dates.
I have learnt skills on software such as BaaN, MMS and EMS. I have also developed my communication skills, time management skills and grown in confidence on how to deal with issues and talk to different groups of people.
I enjoy this programme alot, I look forward to coming to work each day and it has been the best decision I have ever made.
I feel very valued, my team are always interested in my ideas and I have been given great responsibility so I can tell I am trusted.
The programme has been well organised, although there have been some minor hiccups that could be improved e.g. too many breaks on the two week induction, not finding out about next placement until 2 weeks before moving etc.
I have been supported as and when needed throughout my apprenticeship
I have been supported as and when needed throughout my apprenticeship
I have taken a dip in my salary to join this apprenticeship, I do feel we are working more for what we are being paid. My current salary does not cover my living costs.
Outside of work I play netball every Thursday and I also attend a dance class every Tuesday. (Not BAE related)
