I am a Junior Management Consultant for IBM, this means working with international clients on a day to day basis to create solutions to their problems. I am responsible at the moment for the communication and marketing for a huge client project, involving creating/sending out monthly newsletters, creating videos promoting what the team are doing and also working out what else we can do to show off what the project is doing.
Since starting my apprenticeship my confidence has grown massively! I have presented in front of key steak holders and clients which I would have never done prior to this apprenticeship. I have also really developed my communication skills with both colleagues and external clients.
I really enjoy my programme, it is very exciting as its not the same everyday. I am able to try out new things all the time, which gives me insight into other parts of the business. The relationship between colleagues is particularly good as everyone is very friendly and gets on really well.
I feel extremely valued, I get treated the same as any other employee at IBM. I am given challenging tasks and brilliant opportunities.
The organisation of the apprenticeship could be improved slightly as when I started no one knew which project I was going on. When I was finally told what project I was on, it didn't feel asif the project knew what to do with me.
The support that I receive from my training providers has been really good, anything that I need help with they are always very willing. I am not afraid to ask questions.
I receive a good amount of support from IBM, while you are in foundation for the first three years you have an early professional manager who you have regular reviews with and you can go to them if you have any problems/need advice.
My salary meets my costs fine as I work away from my base location which means that all of my expenses such as travel/food/accommodation are paid for by IBM.
There are many social events outside of work which are organised by IBM that tend to be really good. There are also a lot of voluntary giveback work that you can get involved in which can be taking part in events such as careers fairs.
Yes
IBM is a brilliant apprenticeship with countless opportunities!
I would say that on the assessment days just be yourself and try your best, there are so many opportunities that come with the apprenticeship and all the hard work is definitely worth it!
