Trainee Estimator: Price a job from start to finish including cost plan and preliminaries
Learnt how to use new software's and developed confidence. Developed communication skills by talking to clients
Enjoy coming to work everyday due to meeting new people all of the time and having a better understanding of my job role
I feel very valued by Laing O'Rourke. Even though being new to the job and industry no one undermines the quality of work produced and every one has time to talk
The program I am on is structured well and fairly organized.
My training provider is mainly my line manager and program director. My line manager supports me on a daily basis without fail and will always be there to teach me something new. My program director will support me when in modules for personal development through team building and I find this to be beneficial within the work environment
My employer will provide all sorts of support all the way through to online courses for personal development through to modules to improve academia and knowledge such as First Aid modules
At my age and the program I am on, I am very happy with the wages I receive every month. My only downfall would be due to having a permanent place of work, petrol can be a massive outgoing of my wages, however, this will not be a problem the further I am along the program with a potential pay increase
Yes, often the business will have fund raising events outside work that brings people together. The program has modules twice every year so that the cohort can network with one another and I think these are one of the best parts of the program being able to network with circa 20 other people with different job roles
Yes
Great alternative if student did not want to attend university full time but still would like a degree. The construction industry can be quite daunting to start into so a program like the school leaver of graduate is great to break the ice. The benefits of working here most other companies do not offer e.g degree and working, travelling etc
Be yourself but the most confident version. Someone who is innovative is a key eye opener and someone who is enthusiastic about the job role they want to go into shows they are truly interested. Don't be nervous to ask questions if unsure and always remember that age is not a factor thought about when working with the company. E.g just because they might be the youngest applicant does not mean they don't have as much to offer as someone older.
