I am a Procurement business apprentice moving around the business every 16 weeks to experience as many different areas of the business as possible. On a day to day basic i support my line manager with their job role and off support to other memebers of the team as and when they need it.
I have learnt many new skills since starting as i am completing NVQ's and Project Management and many other training sessions
I really enjoy the programme as the work is interesting and the people and the working environment is lovely. It has meet my expectations and i do really enjoy it.
I feel valued by all the line managers i have been placed with. However, it is sometimes hard for example contacting people within the wider business as your emails often get ignored as people dont feel you are important.
The programme is well organised and structured as you have a 2 week induction before you start your first role. This allows you time to become familiar with the different areas of the business and is not as over facing on your first day. The training is on the job with one day at college which i feel works well as it breaks your working week up. You are also given time to complete NVQ's and college work with work time so no work needs to be completed at home.
I recieve lots of support from my assor and well i can contact them whenever i need to with problems.
Each placement is different with different line managers offering different levels of support. However, i feel comfortable approching them and they are always there when i need them.
My salary meets my the costs of my current bill i have however, i am looking at purchasing a house and i am struggling to save enough for a deposit at my current wage.
I have been invited to a couple of social events with other appretices but that is all.
Yes
I have recommended the scheme to many friends and relatives as i enjoy the company and the day to day work. I also enjoy the benifits such as the flexi time, pension and share scheme.
Ensure you know information about the company as it is such a large business. And i would also tell them the honest truth about the day to day work as i felt often in the indcution we were told about all the travelling oppotunities you recieve where as at my current stage there is no oppotunities however, in the future im sure there will be.
