Buyer, on a day-to-day basis I raise Purchase Orders for a specifc aircraft platform, chase these orders in for delivery and match invoices to pay the suppliers. I interact a lot with people within my office on both a professional and informal basis as I do work for other teams as well as the team I am currently in. I interact alot with suppliers as I chase in orders from them and sometimes need their assistance in matching the invoices to pay them. I am responsibile for helping to raise the order requirements placed on my team and then chase these in. I am also reposinsible for matching the invoices. I have had quite a few side projects, one was to identify same parts between my team and several others using v-lookups, another project was to help create a kan-ban proces between ourselves and an external supplier through reviewing existing reporting measures and altering these so as to create a repoting mechanism which aids the movement of parts in and out of the campanies as well as others.
I have started and made progress on my NVQ Level 3 in business Admin, my Level 2 qualification in Customer Servce and my BTEC in Project Management. I have gained my EDCL Qualification and will soon be sitting an IT key skills exam. I have greatly developed my communication skills and have gained tons of confidence through the apprenticeship.
I have really enjoyed my time in the programme, I feel I have really grown as a person and I have had so many brillaint opportunities in both the placements I have had up until this point and I look forwards to the placements in the future. I get on really well with the company I work with no matter what the department and while I did not know what to expect when I started I have really enjoyed myself and learnt alot.
I do feel valued by BAE Systems and have felt I have made an impact in both placements I have been in. My line managers have always been supportive and I have got on well with the suplpiers I have dealt with in my role. I have been involved with a lot in both placements and felt my opinion was valued in whatever I got involved in.
The programme is fairly well organised, in terms of induction I feel it could have dopne tohave been longer as we had to fit a lot in in two weeks which would probably have been better if maybe it was a 3-4 week induction. In terms of training, support and studying I feel the programme is very well organised. Although task delegation is dependent on the team you go into for your placement and not the programme per se I have not really had a problem with this.
I receive a lot of support from my assessor and have regualr contact with them where we discuss any quesitons or issues I may have and they provide guidance on things within the work place.
I received a lot of support from my employer as I am constantly in the work place I feel very well supported and am always made to feel welcome whoever I approach with an issue.
My salary meets my costs quite well as I have only just left sixth form I do not have bills to pay the only regualr outgoing is my phone and car and I feel my salary covers this excellently.
There are LOTS of opportunities we can get involved with outside of work through the company e.g. Princes Trust, I was recently nominated to take part in an air show as a customer amabassador and an Outward Bound week is mandated by the company for all aprentices and there are many many more opportunities.
