Finance assistant on rotational placements within different business units. Tasks varied depending on the business and role description but ranged from working on bids to procurement tasks engaging with suppliers to month end financial reporting and compliance tasks. Often responsible for managing your own time and workload but support via the close team as well as other individuals was widely available. projects such as implementing new procedures and collaborating across business units meant you were often treated as regular employee.
Training to be qualified in CIMA (chartered institute of management accountants) was provided and expected to manage alongside your workload. plenty of other internal training courses covering everything from excel to presentation skills as well as career development. on the job training on finance software, workplace practices as well as soft skills such as communication and teamwork.
My program is great when the placement that I'm in is good. currently my team are all really supportive and a pleasure to work with. the work is interesting and still a little challenging without being too difficult. the scheme is managed well by a couple of individuals who recognize your needs and understanding. I am currently really enjoying it.
Siemens puts a lot of emphasis on the younger talent and I feel this is hugely important to my personal development and growth. there are several internal recognition structures in place that reward you for good and impressive work. the tasks undertaken can often be used in high level pieces of analysis or affect the wider business. Reviews with line managers especially are setup to highlight the good work done as well as areas to improve.
the scheme has been running for a number of years now so has benefited from a lot of experience. It also receives a lot of active support from a number of high level individuals who promote and dedicate their time to the scheme. the scheme provides a lot training opportunity and guidance and encourages individuals to seek out mentors and help where needed.
Our training provider, BPP does offer support however I feel in general it is very poor and makes minimal effort. in terms of resolution of issues they often miss the point or cause and can only seem to help on the surface. they are accessible to contact and reach out to however there knowledge base is not always up to the standard that it would need to be.

Our salary is competitive however it is only average or slightly below average compared to other companies of the same size. they could do more to support and attract more individuals to the scheme. there is a fund given for relocating however in some cases it is not substantial enough given the location and high real estate prices of some of the offices.
Siemens encourages a lot of extra curricular and career developing activities that extend beyond the day to day tasks. team building exercises are often organized and encouraged by individual teams but are ultimately down to the managers discretion. we are also given two days a year to give to volunteering activities which can be arranged within a team or as an individual exercise.
Yes
Siemens offers a lot of opportunities and career progression. it has over 100 sites within 8 business units so moving around between these can give you the variation and flexibility of switching roles. the big corporate nature means that there is plenty of support and all the correct procedures and systems are in place so that you are able to benefit from things such as contribution towards eye tests.
