  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • During my time on the scheme I have been around a series of placements. I have moved around the country and been in varied roles to ensure I get the best experience. Roles have included supply chain and sales and my placements have given me full business exposure to build rapport with many people in different levels of the business.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • My confidence has grown while being on the scheme and most importantly I have gained so much independence. From moving to different areas of the country I have had to learn to be independent and make the most of the place I am in. I have learnt how to adapt quickly into new roles and settle in quickly with the new teams. Since being on the scheme I have been studying the CIMA qualification. This means I have skipped 3-4 years of doing a degree and the debt. I am aiming to be fully qualified by the end of the scheme.

  • 4. How valued do you feel by Siemens?
  • The scheme is valued by the majority of the business. They make sure the scheme is known by all the different divisions and that we are given the most valuable experience. We are given so many opportunities such as helping out with big company events and also presenting at internal events.

  • 5. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The overall program is well structured. There could be some improvements but I feel that because we are spread around the country it couldn't be improved any further.

  • 6a. How much support do you receive from your training provider?
  • The support is currently increasing and feedback is being given in order to improve our experience. We are given the option of which way we want to study which is helpful and the tutors are always on the phone if you need help and may also meet at a Siemens office if you need some extra tuition.

  • 6b. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • Placement managers are helpful in making sure you settle in quickly etc. HR and other areas of the business are easily accessible as we have many online portals. Support is always available if needed. Siemens also have a mentoring tool. This tool has been really useful and having a mentor has helped me with my learning and development while increasing my network in the business.

  • 7. How well does your salary/package meet your costs?
  • Salary is good. You need to work through CIMA and get good placement reviews in order to be on more pay so you get out what you put in. The Siemens benefits are extremely good and there are many on offer.

  • There are many company events and sport activities to attend. They have a Siemens football tournament every year between the different sites.
