I work between three sites: Cobalt Business Park - customer contact centre; where we receive calls and enquiries from residents of North Tyneside; Engies Shared Service Centre based at Quorum, where we deal with calls from customers and North Shields Customer First Centre- This is where residents of North Tyneside come into the centre with face-to-face enquiries. During my apprenticeship, I have been able to gain experience and take part in a wide range of tasks from creating a staff handbook to present and send to new starters and helping out with recruitment and assessment centres, to creating reports for the home energy staff, approving staff holidays, planning peoples shifts and helping with events such as customer service week.
I have learned lots of new skills as well as being able to work on building new skills and knowledge which I previously had. Within ENGIE I have been able to undertake various training and qualifications such as Excel training and I am going to soon complete a basic life support and defibrillator training too. I have developed a wide range of skills such as team work and communication skills which I can use in everyday life.
I enjoy working for ENGIE as they have great benefits such as MyEngie which allows employee to receive discounts from lots of places. I also like the team I work within as I get lots of help and support when I need it. I enjoy coming to work as there is a nice atmosphere and everybody gets along well.
Within ENGIE there are various award schemes such as the MAG7 awards which allows employees to nominate each other for their hard work. I am able to get involved in a wide range of tasks and projects - some of which aren't within my area but I am still able to get involved. I get recognition from my manager and peers.
I have lots of support from peers and my manager. Our team is well organised and all help each other with workloads. I am able to take time out of my day when I need to do coursework which is also really good.
My tutor always helps me with any questions which I may have and provides feedback as to where I can improve. I can email my tutor or message her via E-Track where she will reply
I receive lots of support from people who aren't even in my department. Everybody is willing to help you with anything you are struggling with.
Although the wage is not the highest paying it is still above the NMW and the benefits all make it worth it. we can also claim back on travel expenses which helps a lot.
ENGIE offer all employees 2 paid days per year to volunteer outside of work. this could be doing anything you like ranging from helping out in a school to running a race. In addition to this, I have been able to get involved in lots of things outside of work such as National apprenticeship week where I took part in talking to young people about what we do. We also get discount of leisure facilities too.
Yes
There are so many opportunities and there is lots to get involved in.
My advice would be to apply - there are so many opportunities and progression routes within the business! I would also recommended coming to any open events or apprenticeship events which we are at to talk to our apprentices and learn more about them.
