I everyday work we carry out a rotation in which we go around the whole factory taking up different roles and responsibilities. we are currently carrying out a 3 and a half year advanced apprenticeship course, we are learning and gaining new skills everyday which help us carry out the jobs each day.
yes, I have developed many new skills and traits which I did not have before starting the apprenticeship, for example I have been trained in 5s and other areas which help me to work better and also more efficiently. Through this apprenticeship program I have also improved existing skills which also help me in everyday work and help me to work more productively.
I am really enjoying my program at the moment because of the varied jobs which we are given the chance to have a go at. before of the large scale of the factory there are many jobs and roles, with this apprenticeship it gives you the chance to have a go in all of them and be able to see a large proportion of the factory.
I do feel valued within Siemens as I feel they look to push lots of apprentices through as they will gain lots of knowledge about the company very fast and will be able to apply that in later years, however at times I do feel not very valued due to some people not having the time for apprentices of the patience to show them something new.
I feel the program is well organize and does have some good structure to it, however at some points I feel there could have been more planning put in place to help the flow of what is required to be completed. but overall I feel that it is well planned and have a well organized structure.
We do receive lots of support from our training provider and are given lots of information regularly. Any problems we have with our course or even on the outside of work we are given lots of support on and have lots of things cleared up by our training provider which does help out lots with work.
I feel we receive lots of support from our employer and are given lots of support when required.
The salary is okay for a apprenticeship, I feel at my current age it does not meet my costs.
At the moment I do not really know of any opportunities outside of work, I feel I do not know all the activities that go on or am just not being informed or aware of what goes on. I have seen little opportunities that appeal to me so am not ware of any at the moment.
Yes
Because it is a good apprenticeship plan and gives you a great chance to see a lot of the work that is done throughput the factory which lots of employees and also other apprenticeship programs wouldn't be able to offer. I also think that when joining people are very welcoming and do offer lots of support to help out where they can.
Make sure that when choosing your apprenticeship program you are fully aware of all the task that you will be doing, for example what you will be doing at college and on your course, what work you will be required to complete and the amount of work you will need to do for you to complete your whole apprenticeship program.
