I am part of RUC (road user charging) department which maintains and installs average speed, low emission zone and monitoring cameras. the day-to-day work is to ensure that all cameras are operating and if there are any faults that they are attended to.
I have further developed skills such as working in a team, hand skills, communication skills etc.
I enjoy the programme as it is what I expected before I started with siemens. The colleagues are friendly and the college that I am attending is up to the standards that I hoped it would be.
reasonably valued by managers, supervisors and colleagues.
the programme was organised as I got the necessary training and induction needed when I first started the job. I am supported by colleagues, managers and others from the company. When first attending college, I felt that it was not organised but half way through the year it was getting better as they were more organised.
I receive the support needed when required by tutors/advisors.
I receive the support required by managers, HR and mentors.
I was happy with the salary that was offered as it was much higher than expected. Travel cost was also covered for the first year to and back from college which was a bonus.
There are many opportunities outside of work once I have finished this apprenticeship as i will have the qualifications required from other companies and i will have pickled up the skills needed for other engineering companies.
