The degree apprenticeship allows us to roate around the business covering 4 different rotations over 6 months, this includes: Marketing, HR, Sales and Supply Chain. We complete a 6 month placement in each and then specialise in one for our final year.The roles we're given are real life 'proper' jobs which give us full responsibility over certain tasks within each function.
At Nestle there are many chances to devlop your skills through various trainings which we complete both at uni and during work hours. My most memorable course I have been on is insights, where I have learnt how to interact with others based on their learning style and colour profile.
The programme allows us to not only build relationships with colleagues in our teams but also with other apprentinces on the scheme who we don't get to see as often. Going to uni for a week every 6 weeks means we can focus on our studies and get away from the work environment allowing us to have a good work/ life balance.
At Nestle there is a very strong emphasis on recognition and supporting someone for doing the right thing or performing well. This is supported by a great deal of support from line managers, the academy who support the scheme and mentors who help us to feel valued even for the smallest action.
The programme has been running for nearly 5 years now and has been developed and structured each year from feedback from various years. The time given to us to study and work is a good balance with a strong mix of training, learning and chances to develop.
Whilist at university we have many opportunities to ask our lecturers questions surrounding what we're learning ahead of our assessed presentation and essay. However once uni has finished communication between lecturers drops and we often have to send multiple emails to get a response e.g. waiting on feedback from presentations
There are multiple people we can reach out to for support at work including the academy team regarding uni, our line managers, buddys in the year above to have an informal chat too or our mentors. Each person always is willing to offer their support and provide feedback at any given time. This is also monitored in a 1-1 meeting which can happen monthly to check progress and talk about any unanswered questions we may have.
The starting salary is £17,000 per year and this goes up yearly by a small amount based on your performance at work and the business you have worked in during the year. This works out about £1,200 each month which is enough if living at home, however living in the gatwick area is expensive to rent and most of the paycheck will go on bills.
In the Gatwick area I found it difficult to find things to do over the weekend especailly as many people that work at the Gatwick head office live quite far apart from eachother. During the summer theres lots of things to do e.g. parks and pubs ect but during the winter there's limited things to do.

Working at Nestle is a fantastic opportunity to work for the leading Nutrition, health and wellness company. You get to work on up and coming brands along with exciting campaigns and real life roles/ responsibilities. It's a great business to start in as it has dedicated lots of it's time towards people and has a passion to help young people succeed in the working world.
When applying to Nestle the application process is quite indepth and requires time spent on it. It's good to have examples of where you have carried out a task well or showed a key quality where you've had to step up and lead. At the Assesment Centre I would be yourself and spend time talking to the other applciants finding out about them and what they enjoy doing ect. Before applying I would reccomend finding out about Nestle, it's history, brands and ethos which will really help in interviews.
