As Financial Planning Administrators, we are at the core of the team to assist the Paraplanners and Financial Planners. Our day to day role is always challenging as we are given a number of tasks which includes from monitoring the FP shared email inbox, post, meeting preparation, processing new business, calling external providers, processing investments and general administration. Our exposure to all parts of the business is also something we are privileged to experience through different talks/meeting which we can attend given we mange our workload day to day. We interact with all areas of wealth management on a daily basis which is great for networking. Individually we take on new projects within our team on different subjects within financial planning. We also have weekly/daily meeting with our supervisor. We have an extremely well structured training plan, which was designed by colleagues - this is followed and reviewed every day/week and helps our development enormously.
Working toward our specific FP exams, I have learned a whole new area of business through studying the text book, learning from colleagues and developing within the role itself. I have learned the UBS culture through practice and observation throughout the whole bank. Learning different behaviors within a job has given me massive confidence to challenge colleagues. Being strong team leader through playing professional football previously, I feel I have strived in this role already and developed my team/personal skills as well as learning new values.
UBS is the largest Wealth Manager in the world and has exposure to a scope of unique clients. This is something I am proud to be a part of every day and enjoy coming to work which is most important. It has exceeded my expectations in terms of culture and hard working people. I feel extremely lucky I have been given the opportunity to learn and work in a bank which provide employees with the training and support you need to be successful in life and work.
I feel extremely valued as an apprentice at UBS. It is evident that everyone here sees apprentices as I huge value to the business as we learn from the bottom up. The support is enormous in regards to training and exams. Internal colleagues take time out of their day to train you on specific processes when they don't have to. We always receive recognition from everyone ranging from colleagues to managers to even senior management of the bank which is extremely encouraging.
Internally our training programme is extremely well structured. We have a training spreadsheet in place which we review every day and have weekly meetings with our trainers and line managers to catch up on what our strengths and weaknesses are. We also take this time to set goals for the week. We are signed of on different business processes when we can effectively show we are capable of performing these ourselves. We are given different tasks everyday to make sure we are given exposure to a variety of tasks. Our external training provider is also effective as we have monthly reviews to support our progress.
We receive great support from our external training provider. We have monthly reviews to review our progress our day to day role and exams. We also given webinars which help with our development and confidence when dealing with these specific business areas. We are given the full exam package which includes the exam text book, chapter tests, audio learning and e-learning programme which is extremely helpful so I feel very well supported.
We receive massive support by all colleagues within wealth management. Everyone takes time out of their day to answer questions or to teach us on various business aspects. The culture and behaviors at UBS are put into practice everyday and we are encouraged to express these on a daily basis. There is a clear career path which is good but also internal opportunities which we are encouraged to take on. Everyone's attitude plays a huge part in the business and in our development.
My salary exceeds my living costs given I budget. UBS is a huge company and pays very well given we are apprentices. We are given support on how to budget our money, which I think is very important thing we learn at an early age, especially living in London.
There is a huge scope of events, groups, clubs and volunteering opportunities. We are encouraged to take part in these opportunities to network across the bank. I am a member of the gym at UBS - the gym has a huge variety of classes included in the membership package which I attend every week. This a good why to network and break from work.
Yes
The culture at UBS is great. The people here are extremely helpful and hard working which makes you want to be a part of the success of the bank. Everyone I speak to at UBS always mentions the same values of the bank a word that is always mentioned is people.
The assessment days are a great experience. They give you a chance to showcase yourself. When applying, be yourself and show you are confident and a team player. Do your research and learn the values of UBS and show what they mean to you.
