  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • we change placements every 6 months which gives us a good understanding of the different areas with in the business. I am currently with the estimating team which is great experience towards my RICS qualification.

  • I have learnt a variety of new skills such as contract practice and estimating. I have developed my communication skills and team working skills.

  • I enjoy it very much however it can be hard sometimes to juggle education and work.

  • 4. How valued do you feel by Transport for London?
  • I feel very valued. We have huge support and do not feel shy to express our concerns if we have any.

  • it is organised to an extent however I feel that It can be much more organised from the start as the first 6 months was very confusing administration wise.

  • we have 3 points of support. our line manager, apprenticeship manager and coordinator.

  • 7. How well does your salary/package meet your costs?
  • the salary is above average however being older than most on the scheme, the salary is just about enough to get buy considering i live with parents.

  • 8. Are there many opportunities outside of work?
  • yes. there are a lot of opportunities due to the fact that the scheme reaches out to different boroughs to promote the scheme.

  • 9. Would you recommend Transport for London to a friend?
  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • TFL offers a lot of opportunity and development through training. Apprentices are not treated as apprentices but rather as normal members of staff.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Transport for London?
  • be yourself and think outside the box as TFL are constantly looking for a fresh mind to add to the value of the business and transport within London.
