I have enjoyed the Apprenticeship programme within Costain not only because it has allowed to be study but also it has allowed me to gain the relevant experience along the way. I am ready to move onto the next stage of my career by specialising in various units such as Building Engineering and Quantity Surveying with regards to construction management. These will broaden my knowledge and understandings on various engineering principles and processes.
I have learnt many new skills working for Costain through the various sectors of work they are involved in. I started out working as part of the delivery for various projects in the highways and water sector. I am now in a project management position/consultancy role in the nuclear sector.
very much as it has provided me with the academic knowledge about the industry as well as the day to day experience on site.
very valued. there is a huge push on training and developing young individuals as well as they provide the necessary support in order to achieve your goals
my programme is on a day release system where I will attend the university I am studying at on a Tuesday.
I receive a lot of support from the project team in order to achieve my goals and also help with anything I may be stuck with.
a lot of support. it can be difficult to balance the work you receive on site as well as the academic work you need to produce. it is key to balance your workload and manage your time effectively
very well as you are able to learn and earn a salary at the same time.
There are huge opportunities with attaching yourself to a professional body in the future as well as attend various events.
