my job title at the minute is a FTS technician, my daily task include creating and sending a morning email with outstanding tasks, finalising and allocating tasks on IEDB and liaising with various customers and making sure all customer requests are answered and allocated to the correct departments.
new skills I have learned including navigating and understanding new databases, communication skills with customers to make sure there needs are met. protocol to ensure all the requests are send to the right place and also communication skills with other departments to make sure all requests are going to the correct place. I am currently doing s project for college to show something I have created as well as continuing with my NVQ work
I enjoy the programme a lot I love meeting new people at work and been given the opportunity to challenge myself in a new workplace. I enjoy working in teams and feel the company treats me excellently. I would say it exceeded my expectations. I enjoy it very much. The general feel of the company is very welcoming and they all love helping and supporting you when you need it
As an apprentice for BAE systems I feel very valued as the company sees apprentices as very important assets. The manager of my placement has set me a number of important tasks such as creating power points for meetings and I feel has a lot of value for us as apprentices within the team. in terms of project It is my responsibility to get as involved as possible in this way I make myself more valuable within the team.
the programme has always being very structured as my first year I was in Samlesbury developing my skills as an engineer. in-terms of training the programme has helped me develop my own skills while learning in a working environment. our college day is on Wednesday and there is more then enough time to get college work done in work time providing that I have completed all the work delegated to me from my colleagues.
All the support is there for me if and when I need it, everyone around me has a lot of experience with apprentices and is more that happy to help with any problems I encounter. yes I enjoy the support very much as that help me to grow as an apprentice.
I receive most of my support from my manager/apprentice co-coordinator and support is always an arms throw away, all very keen to help me as an apprentice as they all have a great attitude to helping me out.
at the minute my cost are very low as I am still living at home trying to save up to eventually move out however if I wanted to move out the salary I know would be adequate enough to allow me to do that. I live very close so my cost for travel are low but again the salary would be enough to support someone who lives far away.
yes almost every week we are not only offered but encouraged to get involved in other activities in the local area helping out with event fairs and company activities. BAE systems offer a wide range of things to get involved with in sports and leisure for example the three peak challenge. Before I was working I was at college how did play rugby and did boxing.
Yes
I feel BAE systems is one of the best apprenticeships in the area and offers a great salary with expert level training to aid you in the future. BAE systems also offers many opportunity within the company to allow you to grow all dependant on the work you put in, as the opportunity's are there.
