Currently I am a trainee TPM specialist (which is a nestle term for TQM)in After 8. Day to day tasks include increasing my skills in TPM areas on the skills Matrix by attending training sessions, learning how the line runs and coaching out skills to operators.
I have gained my Food SAFETY LEVEL 2 as well as gaining valuable skills within After 8 TPM in specific areas such as OPL's, CIL, Tagging (All Nestle Terms).
I struggled to adapt to the huge change in my life at the start of the apprenticeship but now I am able to handle it all much better which means I enjoy it more. The company offers great benefits including bonus, company shop and flexibility. The university side of it is also a great bonus.
More and more everyday. The more I learn and the more skills I show, the more impressed the people around me are including managers. I feel more motivated when I have responsibility and this is growing more and more everyday.
With it being a brand new programme, the start of it was not very organized at all. They still seem to be getting their heads round what we were doing. I didn't seem to have a proper role when I first started. However it has got much better in recent months and organization has got better. It can be quite challenging when you have jobs/tasks to complete for your nestle work, your university work and the nestle academy work.
We get given lots of support from general people from around nestle and the university. You are only ever an email or phone call away from some support. I have mentors at Halifax, York and Fawdon.
My manager is my area manager so she is extremely busy however she makes sure to catch up with me every two weeks. In the mean time I catch up with my shift manager who gives me excellent support. Everyone understand that I am new to the business which is good.
I still live at home so I manage to make and save good amounts of money. With no student debt, it means I wont gain the debt after I complete the course. I have plenty of money to go out and do stuff. It is nice not to be restricted.
Yes, lots of volunteering and charity events. There are also loads of dinners/parties however I haven't had chance to go to one yet.
Yes
Very good and safe company to work for, treated well, excellent pay and opportunities.
It isn't about how smart you are or what qualifications you have. It's about who you are and what you can make of yourself within the company. Once you gain a place here, it is in your hands to how big the goals are that you achieve.
