As I am a first year apprentice my day to day role changes. I have done 12 weeks learning electrical skills, 12 weeks learning fitting skills and now I am learning CAD skills for 12 weeks. As part of my apprenticeship I have specialised as an electrician so after my time on CAD is complete I will move on to my speciality.
Yes, I have learned many new skills involving, fitting skills, electrical skills, computer skills. I have also developed team working skills and communication skills
I love the programme so far. I have done lots in my short time with the company and I have learned a vast array of new skills of which I look forward to expanding.
I feel very valued. Its hard to judge in my first year but I am called upon when needed and I know when in the workshop I will be a vital member of the team.
Very well organised. The 12 week changes is good as it allows me to gain my basic skills before moving onto my speciality. It also allows me to try different aspects of the business
I receive all support I require. I only have to ask and any support I need will be available to me.
The employer is the same as my training provided. Anything I need to aid me through my apprenticeship I will be provided with.
It is difficult to juggle costs, most months my salary covers costs.
yes - there have been many opportunities provided to me already to get involved with, such as outward bound activities, German exchange etc.
Yes
I would recommend my place of work as it provided the best training for the job I will be going into. It provides this training in a safe environment where I receive all support I need.
Take time on the application process. some people say it is who you know not what you know, this is incorrect you just need to be ambitious and enthusiastic. Get involved with volunteering if you can. Extra curricular activities look great on an application.
