I work on various aircraft parts throughout my 6 placements. I have to prep my work area. I have to use tools and follow operations in order to complete jobs sucessfully. I always have to clean down following correct procedures. I record my work in a apprentice log book.
Yes i have llearned lots of new skills over my palcements. I have also developed better people skills.
I like all the people I have worked with so far and have made some really good work mates through the apprentice scheme.
I do feel valued. I get treated like any other member of staff, I am not singled out as an apprentice or excluded from any task or activity, I am just as involved now as I expect to be once my apprenticeship is over.
The programme seems very sturctured. The pre-set 6 placements and a 7th final placement before coming out of my apprenticeship is a solid framework set out and comminicated from day one.
I meet regularly with my assesor and feel I can always ask for help should I need it. Communication with them is easy and I feel very well supported in my roles. The college training provider is OK. I do sometimes feel they do not solve problems we raise as students quickly enough. I have struggled with one of my tutors this year and he has offered no help. Out of the 6 tutors I see however he is the only one who fails to support me in the correct way.
I recieve support from my employer whenever I need it. There is always someone to ask or talk to and things like apprentice voice and forum meetings allow me to put my points across to a wider audience if I feel something needs changing.
My salary meets my costs well enough
