I started in CGI in Sep 2016 as a 1st line Service Desk Analyst. I do the same job as everyone else - I take calls, log and monitor tickets, fix IT related issues and answer any queries clients may have. I say 'clients' because we work on a business-to-business contract, meaning the general public can't contact us, only people who work on the company we're contracted to can speak to us, so it remains professional at all times. The difference to everyone I work with however, is that I'm on the apprenticeship scheme so every couple of weeks, I used to attend training lessons to aid me in my job and give me access to more jobs in the future. These courses were IT and business related, so would open up a world of management and technical roles.
We've obtained 3 MTA's (Level 3) in Networking, Cloud and Mobility and Devices.

The employer worked closely with the training company to ensure there were no clashes with work life and the
The salary was good for my age, however I feel that we could have been paid a little more. People doing the same job in other companies are paid £3-4k more. Nonetheless, it wasn't a poor salary!
We often attend work bonding sessions, such as paintballing and go-karting.

I actually got my friend a job here, the opportunities are endless if you put your mind to it.
Ensure that they are familiar with how a service desk works and what to expect from the company.
