I currently work in a PM team providing PM support to the build of the T-45 wings. My daily role is very varied and the level of responsibility I have is fantastic. I find the work challenging, engaging and rewarding and the team I have around me are amazing. One of my main responsibilities at the moment is project managing the in house manufacture of landing gear doors.
Every day I learn more about my self, my abilities and acquire new skills. I have improved in confidence and ability immensely since beginning my current role and I am able to tackle things that would previously have been beyond my competence. I am given lots of opportunities to learn from others and experience aspects of the business that help me develop.
I love it. I love my job, my team, the business. I have held a number of jobs before starting the scheme and none of them can come close to comparing with the career I now have. I recognise just how incredible this opportunity is and intend to take full advantage of it. It have massively exceeded all my expectations.
Extremely. I have worked hard to prove my commitment, ability and enthusiasm and that is recognised by my peers, managers and scheme leaders. I have received numerous awards, employee recognition rewards, letters of thanks, feedback and invites to attend events in recognition of my efforts. I think the business does a fantastic job of making it's people feel valued.
Very well. Having been running for 10 years now the scheme is extremely well run and is only every refined and tweaked which I think demonstrates the fact that it is well established and runs effectively. I think the organisation of the scheme is testament to the people that care a lot for the people on the scheme and work hard for them.
This is one aspect of the scheme I have had issues with but on reflection I think I compare my experience in Uni with my experience in work and that makes it seem worse than it is. I admire the approach the university tries to take and most of the time I think they do do a good job.
Massive amounts. I have encountered a number of challenges during my time on the scheme and scheme management and my line management have been extremely supportive. I can not thank them enough for this and without the level of support I have received I would have struggled immensely. I know that I am able to look to them for guidance and support on any issue.
Very well. My circumstances (being a father of two and a homeowner) aren't typical of the usual apprentice population but nevertheless the salary package meets my needs. I think considering this scheme is aimed at college leavers the remuneration is exceptional and individuals are extremely fortunate to be paid as well as we are.
Lots. I have travelled around the UK to visit other sites, see the products we make, visit suppliers and represent the business as an ambassador at number events. I think the company shows great trust in its people by enabling them to act in this external representing role and I recognise that it costs a great deal to be able to do this. The variety of these opportunities is brilliant.
Yes
For all the reasons I have outlined above. It is a great employer offering great opportunities and the scale and breadth of the business means there really are opportunities to suit anyone.
Be diligent in your preparation. Ensure you take your time and take care in the application. Be friendly at assessment centre, do not treat fellow applicants like competitors but try to be the person who brings the group together and includes everyone. Try to give a genuine impression of your personality , don't put on a front.
