I am an electrical designer apprentice, my daily tasks include completing drawings that are required by engineers and improving upon on any drawings from the past that are out of date. on a daily basis I interact with many people, this includes people on my team as well as people on other teams - this needs to be done so I can make sure that any connections that I don't deal with are looked over properly by the correct people. I can have multiple projects on the go at once if there is multiple drawings that need completing within a certain timeframe or I could juts have one big project.
I have developed my team working skills as well as working to a deadline, I feel these are the most important skills that I have developed since starting my apprenticeship. I have acquired new qualifications, including; and ND level 3 and am currently undertaking my NVQ and HNC.
I have enjoyed the programme fully since starting and, I have enjoyed the experience I have gained and the opportunities I have been given, the apprenticeship has surpassed my expectations in all ways.
I feel as though BAE treats me as an everyday employee and do not treat me differently because I am an apprentice - my line manager helps in any way that he can with any and all problems that we have. I feel like I am fully involved within all projects that are undertaken and get every opportunity to help within teams on any work.
The programme is very well structured in that we know who to go to for all individual problems as there is one person who does one allotted task such as reviews or support
We receive plenty of support from our training providers who make sure we understand what it is we are doing and what we can do to improve upon it already - all training providers seem happy to support us and have a great attitude towards helping us out in any way possible.
when it comes to our employer we receive a lot of support for anything we ask and any decisions we make.
I find the salary I am provided with is enough for me to do whatever I need to do - this includes financing my car, travelling to work, social, and any daily costs I might have such as lunches and clothing.
we get offered plenty of opportunities outside of work - this includes becoming a STEM ambassador allowing us to do different learning activities in schools for younger people
Yes
I feel that any of my friends would get the enjoyment and learning experience out of it that have also gained
Make sure that you know what it is you are applying for and take every opportunity that you can get.
