I am the team lead of a deployment and maintenance team for a large space navigation project. It includes a lot of travel and providing remote support for team members when they are on site.
Many technical and softer skills - Java, SQL, linux use, bash scripting, database administration, Windows server administration, leadership, client facing interaction and negotiation to name a few.
Very highly - I love my role, have a real passion for my project and the people I work with are fantastic.
Very much so, I have been well recognised in my reviews and with internal recognition awards. I feel my work and input is value in the project.
Very well organised from a CGI perspective, university could be improved.
More than adequate - often more support than I had time to make use of.
Vast array of support for any problem I could conceive of, including multiple mentors, health and fitness, mental health, etc.... for any issue you might have there is support available to you in CGI for it.
Very well indeed - I benefit from significant overtime as well as a company paid flat with living costs included. I am more fortunate than most but the base package is still excellent and I've never been short on money.
Yes, we have a sports and social club (With some fantastic events) as well as an array of volunteering opportunities.
Yes
It's a fantastic first company to enter the industry - while the pay is not top tier competitive the support networks and company culture is. Of the people I've seen who leave the company for a more highly paid role, many return shortly after to CGI for the friendly culture. It's a great environment to grow as a professional without the pressure of the competition driven nature of other more performance based companies.
There are no tricks to the assessment centres, a friendly and personable attitude will get you far. The main thing we want to see is a genuine enthusiasm for CGI and our scheme.
