I am an engineering technician and my daily tasks consist of completing different engineering related tasks each day in order to develop new skills.
I have learnt a variety of new skills which include, fitting, cad and electrical skills.
I enjoy coming to work as I like to learn new skills and I feel that it is a good environment to be in. Everyone is friendly and helpful so it is an enjoyable experience.
BAE systems put in a lot of effort to work with the apprentices and keep them happy, any problems that you may have are resolved easily and there is lots of support should you need it.
The programme is split up into 5 main sections: fitting, cad, electrical, specialisation and then work placements. So far I feel that the sections are well organised and the work is set out well. Some of the work could be structured better however it can easily be overcome if you are self motivated.
There is a lot of support given to us and help is always offered if it is needed. The support is easily accessible and there are session after work time that are offered if we need any help.
The employer provides a lot of support if it is needed and there are many ways to get it. Support is not only offered by managers and HR but all of my colleagues are very supportive and they can always provide guidance.
The salary is a good starting salary especially if you start the apprenticeship from leaving school. The salary then rises through the apprenticeship to a good, above average salary that easily meets costs.
There are many opportunities to complete enrichment activities outside of work, these include going on an outward bound trip and going to Germany to complete an exchange with employees from airbus for two weeks.
Yes
Because it is a very good company to work for as it provides great training and is a very good environment to work in. They also provide a good salary and many opportunities to improve your skill set.
Research the company and have an interest in what they do, this will show that you are serious about joining the company. Also show how you would be a good asset to the company and have a goal for where you would like to be in 10 years time.
