Here I was a railway technician apprentice and we would undertake a mx of practical and knowledge lessons 5 times a week and occasional Saturdays. We stayed in a complex called westwood which was a 5 star experience
We have gained new skills in many aspects of the job including leadership team work and safety. We will gain from this a level 3 NVQ in railway engineering and an ILM level 2. This course allowed us to develop skills for our job.
really enjoyed the course and it was good way to get involved in a team as you and your classmates would work together regularly and it was good to gain new skills
Network rail make you all feel like a valued member of the team and ensure that you are treated with respect, they would ensure to give you any help you need as well.
The course is very well organised and is split up into several sections this makes the work more manageable and certain aspects of the course are good fun.
They provided a lot of support and ensure that you had all the correct knowledge needed to complete the task and they helped us gain new skills. I really enjoyed the teaching and thought they were good help.
The employers communication was poor at times however they did support us and ensure that everything we needed was in place for us and that we had the correct facilities needed.
Unfortunately the pay is poor for the first year and can be a struggle to live on however because network rail provide living and food for you while training it makes the wage go a long way.
Network rail try to get involved a lot outside of work and set up activities that we can become apart of such as charity events and they also have good leisure facilities that are at our use.
Yes
