My role is to maintain Overhead Lines. My day to day role is to walk the line and report faults and then carry out repairs with my team to fix the problems.
I have learned and developed lots of new skills and using new equipment and machinery. With lots of qualifications
I enjoy my apprentership very mucg as it is very good pay and we are treated very well with free vehicles.
I feel very valued as if we do well we get bonuses.
It is very well organised as every year there are hundreds of new apprentices, so the team that make it think about it a lot with time to train and time to get experience on the field.
I recieve a lot of support from my training provider as if we need help they are happy and will go above and beyond with helplines etc.
I recieve a lot of support when it comes to training as all the trainers are happy to help and when we have exams if we are struggling they will get tutors in place for us.
The salary is very good as we get paid just as much as a normsal person working and it is just an apprentership with lots of benefits.
National Grid put us on lots and lots of training programmes and some are fun like 4x4 off road training etc.
Yes
Because it is a massive company with good pay and benefits and it is a good outdoor job for adrenalin seekers
Be prepared to work very hard as it is a 3 year apprentership but look foward to all the benefits and training and qualifications you will recieve for it.
