I am currently undertaking 'off the job' training, completing mandatory units of the apprenticeship and developing basic engineering skills through electrical, fitting and computer aided design tasks.
Yes, I have learnt useful skills such as how to wire domestic circuits, how to tape and die holes and threaded components, and how to use 3D modelling software.
I enjoy learning new skills and being able to put these to use, whilst learning theory aspects of aerospace engineering.
I feel as though my employer values the work that I complete and are quick to acknowledge my competence.
The programme is well structured and organised, and I am supported by my assessors, with regular feedback on my progress.
I gain regular feedback from my training provider and any issues are dealt with quickly.
The attitude towards supporting my and my colleagues from the assessors is really good, however I have not required support thus far.
I took a large pay cut to gain my place on the apprenticeship, however I am aware that the apprenticeship with my employer pays above the minimum wage for apprentices in the north of England.
There are opportunities for employees outside of work, such as sport activities, and volunteering.
Yes
The employer recognises the work of their employees and there are fantastic opportunities for personal and career development within the company both nationally and internationally.
Gain experience working in teams, have a good attitude and work ethic, participate in community programmes in STEM if possible
