I am a Piping Detail Designer, my day to day tasks involve spacial integration of pipes of various systems on the T26 Global Combat Ship.
Yes my CAD Skills have been developed significantly as well as my self confidence and people skills.
I enjoy my job as the work I do is challenging and I look forward to coming to work with my colleagues as they are helpful and enjoy helping develop my progression.
I feel appreciated by my line manager and the line manager above them, however in terms of high level management there is no real connection to the workers at my level.
The programme is very well structured out and at no point do you feel like your time is being wasted. The first year is spent in college and so it fully structured learning.
My training officer offers support and speaks to me 2-3 times a week.
My manager is very supportive and down to earth, its nice to have an understanding manager who can look at things with a common sense approach and put themselves in your shoes.
The salary I am on is good for the job I do, if I did not car share to work I would be spending a lot more on petrol.
YEs many extra curricular activities are available to apprentices, these are communicated regularly.
Yes
The apprenticeship is very good and has developed me as a person over the past 4 years.
Be yourself in the interview but make sure to do your homework on the company, a little effort for the interview could go a long way in your career with the company. Do practice aptitude tests online before doing the BAE Systems one.
