I am currently a project manager apprentice for transport for London. We have four six month placements lasting two years. Daily tasks may include attending meetings, taking minutes, sending emails, talking to contractors. My responsibility is to work closely with my project manager making sure we deliver are project on time, meeting all of our deliverables making sure the client is happy.
I have developed numerous of skills and knowledge throughout my first and second placement, attending meetings is a good way to learn new things. I have completed the Agile Exam and the APM Exam is at the end of the year, TFL also provides in house training courses and example being substation, or improving presentational skills.
I have enjoyed being part of this programme as it has given me the opportunity to live somewhere else and the skills to roll of into a job as a project manager. My collages are great, and occasionally go out socially. It makes the difference with working with people you enjoy as it makes your job enjoyable and to find that balance is great
I do feel like I am a valued part of the team, as you have responsibilities and your project team are counting on you to deliver.
The Programme overall is okay, the assessment centre and interviews is very structured. Once you get the job, going to uni once a month wasn't that structured with QA.
QA is are training provider, they are okay. Hard to get hold off, but you have a skills coach which helps you build your portfolio which is useful, as well as college weeks occasionally to get you prepared for the three hour exam in September.
We move projects every six month so it depends on your employer. My second placement has been a lot better as for support and anything I need or don't understand they make the time to sit with you and explain it in detail.
The salary is a very good starting salary plus we get bonuses and free transport
There isn't that many opportunities outside of work, other then events being Christmas or summer drinks.
Yes
They are a great company to work for, the people are nice the pay is good and the working environment is nice
When you are in the interview just be yourself, I didn't come from a project management background or live in London. So if defiantly worth applying
