My daily tasks vary widely between take on procedures for new clients to writing first drafts of due diligence and structure papers. I interact with my peers and those of a higher level daily and occasionally get the chance to speak to clients.
Even though I have only been here a year, my knowledge of tax has increased immensely. I have learnt a lot on the job and also as part of my ACA qualification and internal corporate tax courses I have been sent on.
Although at times the work can be slightly boring in the first year, overall I have really enjoyed it. Everyone I work with is friendly and some work I get can be extremely interesting. I am always learning in my job.
Managers are often very appreciative of the work that I do and I have received excellent feedback. People often really try to get me involved on projects rather than just leaving me to do the basic take on work.
Everything is extremely well organised. We receive college and training dates well in advance, we have someone on hand to talk to if we have difficulties and the original few days of induction ran seamlessly.
Kaplan have been very good. They are open to questions and are happy to be emailed if I have a difficulty.
There is always someone on hand to help if I have difficulties with work or college.
I live at home so it is easier for me in comparison to others who have had to move to London to take the job. I live outside of London so my travel costs are very high, however the salary is very competitive considering I did not spend years at uni.
There are many clubs/societies available to join and the department is often having social events and community days.
