My job title is social & events co-ordinator, on a day-to-day basis I run all of my company's social media accounts, creating, posting and sheduling content to go out across all our digital channels. I also complete the business newsletter as well as editing and posting blogs on our website. I am responsible for growing the brand on digital platforms and interacting with customers through our digital mediums.
I'm learning new skills every day, for example I am learning how to use the different apps in Adobe Creative Cloud which will give me skills in graphic design, video editing, audio mixing. I have also developed my skills in working independently, making me confident enough to approach other businesses and our customers. I'm also learning about coding and Search Engine Optimization.
I enjoy my job as it's doing something that excites me and I believe I can take a long way, it keeps me stimulated on a day-to-day basis. I am happy in my team working with a fantastic marketing manager and also enjoy interacting with people in the rest of the company who are very easy to get on with and are very welcoming to new people.
I feel like I am very valued as they are always there to help me achieve and grow not only professionally but also as a person. No matter what the question is they are always there to answer and share their knowledge and expertise. They make you feel like you're going on the right path and you're going to be successful in the future rather than just an apprentice.
The organisation of the programmes is fantastic as it's scheduled into one session a week with very insightful sessions. From the beginning we were given an induction which explained everything clearly showing how long the course is, what it will entail and the possibilities afterwards. We are also scheduled catch ups/progress reviews every couple of months which is also great.
I receive lots of support, they're always their to share advice and knowledge about the industry and also if we need any help with personal problems. They are very easy to get in contact with and are always willing to make time. They make sure I'm receiving the right training and if anything is going wrong in the workplace they can intervene.
My manager is very helpfu;, giving me direction on what I need to do and giving me reviews of my progress. The HR team is also fantastic, if I have any worries they are always happy to help and are very compassionate if I'm having any personal problems. They have made sure I have the equipment I need to do my job and always push me to do better.
My salary means that I do have enough to live but means I do have to cut back on some things. With the cost of living continually going up it does make it difficult on an apprentice wage however I still afford to live, pay for food and travel on a daily basis and have enough left to cover social costs. It could be better but it could also be worse!
There are many opportunities outside of work with me being invited to several company events and activities such as charity events, annual awards, etc. I also am able to get involved with local community events both through work and through my training provider. Also, my company offer out of office time leisure activities such as yoga, zumba and mental wellbeing sessions.
Yes
It's a fantastic Training Provider, the first industry led social media and digital marketing apprenticeship in the country and it opens doors into a world that a lot of young people don't know about and a world that is thriving in the current digital climate. They are supportive an give me everything that I need to take me forward in my future careeer in digital.
I would advise that you do a bit of research on what the apprenticeship is and actually entails to make sure it's the right fit for you before applying. I would tell others that it is a fantastic place to get into as it opens up so many opportunities. Digital is king of the world at the moment and can open doors in so many different sectors.
