I am an Engineering Technician apprentice working in Stage 2 Electrical Detail Design Cable Management. My daily tasks involve working on a diagram displaying the complete network for the mission network, displaying what cables are on them and proving that it is of adequate size for its purpose. Once I have completed this or sections of, I begin to route the cables in a routing software called CMPic.
I have gained college qualifications, SVQ's, in house training for modelling and output drawings. I have on the job experience relating to my position so that I can now function without much assistance.
I enjoy the program as my work is interesting and challenging. I can apply myself and I'm beginning to see the work I've been focussing on come to fruition which is very rewarding.
I feel valued within my team as a fully functional member. However if their is something I still don't quite understand, anyone within the team would happily take the time to explain it to me and ensure I am fully understanding of all tasks, issues and methods of practice.
The programme has been well structured throughout my time in it. A good balance of design and practical exposure was ensured in my early years to ensure a greater understanding of shipbuilding as a whole.
I have received excellent support from my training officer, I haven't had any issues so far but I am confident in the training staffs ability to ensure that every possible support is given
I received strong support from my employer. Again I have not had any issues but in general day to day working, any issues I come across are broken down and explained to me.
I am satisfied with my salary and feel it is a fair representation of my position within the company.
Their are opportunity's of a social, fitness and leisure nature offered by the company.
