I am working towards becoming a Over Head Lines craftsperson, so on a day to day basis i can be completing work on site that i will be doing after the apprenticeship; ie climbing towers and changing insulators, to patrolling line routes looking for defects, alongside this i am also study to achieve the qualifications set out in my apprenticeship whilst completing training courses and competencies.
i have learnt an array of new skills since the beginning of my apprenticeship, both technical and skills i can use in my day to day life
Greatly, i enjoy the challenge the apprenticeship is giving me and the support from national grid to push myself further.
i feel very valued, firstly by te amount of financial spending the company is investing into me, with training and couses etc, but also the time and effort put in the help me through the apprenticeship by my trainers and mentors.
my apprenticeship is very well structured, i can see a year in advance the training courses that i am due to complete, i have reviews at a ten weekly basis as a catch up with my apprentice maanger and to settle any queries or worries i may have.
There is a vast amount of support available if i ever feel i require it
i feel i am given the time, training and support from my employer to get me through my programme
i feel i am paid appropriately for my time, effort and quality of my work
yes, there are always meetings or events taking place
Yes
it is a great career path
be yourself at whatever stage of the application you are in, its important to be comfortable with yourself (as much as possible)
