I currently do bid project management which involved a lot of proposal documentation, lifecycle reviews and working closely with Supply Chain and Engineering.
I have developed my IT skills and am working towards being a confident presenter. I have learnt a lot about the internal tailored lifecycles.
I do enjoy it but the college and placements topics don't always interlink so I am at times not able to practice what I'm learning as I'm learning it.
I feel valued as a young employee. There is a lot of investment in young people and creating a future workforce. I think more senior people should get to know the Early Careers schemes and support by being a mentor.
I believe the scheme could be more organised but I think this is happening slowly as more people are being employed to support the line manager. In terms of reviews I think 12 weeks is excessive, I feel like I'm constantly in a review.
I receive a lot of support within the academic environment which is appreciated, however this is dependant on the tutor/lecturer. There is not much of a cross between placement and uni.
I have applied for a mentor but yet to be assigned one. The Early Careers team are very supportive and keen to help us succeed. The only issue is often placement managers see us as free resource and don't always provide a good level of support.
I think my salary covers living costs and travel but as I no longer live at home it can be a struggle to have a car, cover daily costs and have a social life. However, pay does increase each year so I should be more comfortable soon.
There are STEM opportunities that we can attend outside of work and occasionally there are talks, PM events. I think this could be worked on.
Yes
There are lots of benefits to be received when working here and there are lots of opportunities to learn different parts of the business.
Research the company and take the time to get an understanding of general business studies.
