Day to day varies depending on which placement you are in during the apprenticeship, but work normally involves being assigned tasks to work with and help colleagues, shadowing and participating in meetings to gain an overall understanding of the business.
yes, BAE encourage there apprentices to develop as many skills as possible offering a number of extra learning courses. As an example I have learnt/ developed skills in machinery, computer modelling, communication and document writing.
The programme is very enjoyable, college day release breaks up the week ad the placement rotation helps to see a variety of roles within the company.
Colleagues understand that we are new to the business but are still happy to trust us with work and answer any questions we have.
Understandably the logistics of placing a large number of apprentices into the business in areas that not only benefit us but meet the company needs has it difficulties, that being said the programme is structured very well, and has flowed very smoothly so far. BAE also offers and encourages apprentices to actively seek out ways of benefitting the scheme through stretch assignments.
Support is always available and people are very helpful and eager to answer any questions you have.

The salary offer by BAE is excellent.
There are plenty of opportunities for additional learning and skills outside of work, training courses and business trips for example. additionally BAE like to get there apprentices involved in STEM activities helping schools in the local area.
Yes
BAE systems is a big company that can offer a wide variety of roles, the way the programme is set up means that you get to experience a lot of these areas within the company before specialising. You are part of an intake so you meet a lot of new people both in the same position as you and professionals at work, the apprenticeship results in higher education (up to degree level) certificates and the pay is very good.
Go for it, a big company like BAE Systems requires good communication, be confident and don't be afraid to ask questions.
