Worked at Fidelity International Investments as a Technology Apprentice within the Market Data Team. Daily BAU work would consist of working on updating the database, processing invoices and actioning user requests for Market Data products and services. Processing.
Yes, Been on many internal and external training courses. I am able to gain the financial services qualification which is recognised in the market data industry.
I really enjoy the programme, the most enjoyable part is that my team are welcoming and the company is a great place to work. Everyone is supportive and the culture of the company is so friendly but still professional which is a good balance.
I get appreciate from members of my team occasionally and from higher members of staff which is always nice.
Our induction was good and well put together, we have had a lot of training with iBANK throughout the course and support from the apprenticeship team. Studying I would have to do in work hours at my desk as well as meeting my mentor. The programme is well organised, however I would like to see more interaction between the year groups.
My tutor was supportive and would always give help where needed , however replying to emails was delayed especially when needing to get things done such as gaining access to stuff, information and certificates. I enjoyed the course and think it was beneficial for my job role too.
My manager supports me in everything I do, she is always willing to help me and help me achieve what I need to achieve to show my best within Fidelity. HR Team have calls with us monthly or so, but we don't really hear much from them which is a shame because they are really supportive but it is understandable that they are busy as well with Grads. More events with HR would be good as well as monthly catch ups on what everyone is doing etc.
The salaray package costs are good I think for an apprenticeship. The only thing I would say I disagree with is that the new apprentices join on what second year ones have already. I am not sure if this is to do with qualification level or not.
Myself personally attend a lot of company events such as FISD which is a event where people in the market data industry collaborate. I volunteer for charity events within FIL as well as town halls etc.
Yes
Because they are a good place to work for and supportive.
Be yourself, don't lie about anything you have achieved or done and make sure you are noticed. Stand tall in your presentation and be confident. Keep an eye on the time within assessment days as members of the board like people who keep an eye on the time, good time keeping is key for meetings etc.
