Paralegal duties, client care, meetings, acting as a Deputy for clients
I have learnt how to apply my apprenticeship in Law to the job role I am currently doing.
I really enjoy the Apprenticeship programme I am on. I work with a really supportive team that help me through work matters and also with my studies. The company I work for has a big support network for the Apprenticeship scheme which has helped me undertake my workload and study time to the best of my ability.
I feel extremely valued by my team, supervisor and my tutors at CILEx. I do not feel as if I am treated as an 'Apprentice'. I am give daily tasks any other Paralegal would carry out and I am trusted to do this which gives me confidence I have the ability to get the job done.
Within the first few months of the Apprenticeship programme I felt a little in the dark about certain things and expectations that were needing to be met. The induction day was helpful however after this there was a lack of communication which did not help with study time. E.G. Webinar groups not being communicated properly from the Apprenticeship team. Certain people were in certain groups and because this was not communicate I was penalised for not attending the correct group.
The support I receive is fairly supportive. It is sometimes hard to get hold of your assessor and there were some guidance issues in the beginning. I feel this is improving as this information has been fed back.
I receive so much support from my employer. From my line manager all the way to the managing Partner, I have received positive support to help further my career.
The salary I receive is adequate although I sometimes struggle.
The Firm I work for offer so many opportunities to get involved outside of work which also reflects your work ethic. We get involved in a lot of voluntary work and I have since joined the Charity Committee which is a great group to work with in and outside of work.

Being on an Apprenticeship is the best way to immerse yourself into the working world and have a hands on approach. It is a great option for people not wanting to go to University but want to get a head start in their careers.
Be efficient, tenacious, approachable and caring! If you let your personality come through in your interview and the Firm can see you are a genuine character as well as being punctual and well presented the interview should go well!
