  • Training to become fully qualified Engineer. Job has a varied nature being able to use theoretical knowledge to solve issues at the workplace.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • The qualifications are fantastic. Best Training possible from any company around. On job training, courses, internal training facilities and equipment, theoretical knowledge from university. Only issue is prevention of further university progression onto bachelors, masters and becoming charted engineer is not encouraged.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • The workforce are all very helpful in improving my knowledge. The training team at the training centre are fantastic and support is there. This is a very intense course and a lot of pressure is placed on our performance. This pressure to succeed can at times be extensive, however is expected due to the nature of the training.

  • 4. How valued do you feel by National Grid?
  • NG is a fantastic company which pride in their training which is the best around. Pressure has been placed to pass courses, and threats of failure concludes to dismissals etc Good performance and rewards are not awarded correclty and varies to each individual. Extra work completed and hard work and the extra effort made is not appreciated.

  • The training proggramme is organised briliantly. Very intense but training cannot be faulted.

  • There is support available to help. Sometimes displinary id used to often.

  • If support is required they will offer the help.

  • 7. How well does your salary/package meet your costs?
  • Travel time given, No daily cost when on training Salary for the level of qulaificaion is funominal The training courses/ university degree would be sufficient alone. (Salary is too good)

  • Some activities are available. Working still allows me to continue with my hobbies.

  • Yes

  • Training is fantastic Salary is Fantastic Experience and knowledge gained The job is varied from day to day and is very interesting


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to National Grid?
  • Ensure you are willing to work hard. Have a interest in engineering Try and gain some work experiance in the industry.
