Engineer apprentice. Daily tasks involve learning skills across the mechanical, instrumentation and electrical disciplines. The responsibilities we have are for the tidiness off the workshops.
I have learnt a lot of hand skills including using tools and machines such as lathes and millers along with drills. I am also close to completing the my BTEC level 3. I believe i have developed my personal skills a lot more since i joined the apprenticeship, i have seen an increase in confidence and an self belief.
I enjoying working in within the group as the people i work with are a good bunch to work with and help one another if needed. I have enjoyed the programme as it has allowed me to gain skills i could not gain in school or through university.
I feel that i am valued by the company and other employees as AstraZeneca are looking to take me on after the apprenticeship so want to give me the best oppurtunities and give me the most knowledge possible.
I believe it is well structured as there is a wide variety of tasks to undertake that gives me a wide base of knowledge. The training officers provide a great deal of knowledge to the course as they are all ex-workers for big engineering sites and know almost everything about engineering on site.
i recieve a lot of support for if i need it and it is easy to ask the trainers as they are easily approachable
i recieve a good amount of support from my mentor on site who emails me weekly and i can contact him easily if needed.
very well, i have enough to spend on things i want and things i need as well as having some left to save.
There arent many oppurtunities out of work at the moment as i am not on site so havent had the chance to look for anything outside of work.
Yes
They are a huge company that treat their employees very well and i believe they are definetly the best company i could have been offered.
Just be confident and show that you can lead a small team on a the assessment day.
