  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • Engineer apprentice. Daily tasks involve learning skills across the mechanical, instrumentation and electrical disciplines. The responsibilities we have are for the tidiness off the workshops.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have learnt a lot of hand skills including using tools and machines such as lathes and millers along with drills. I am also close to completing the my BTEC level 3. I believe i have developed my personal skills a lot more since i joined the apprenticeship, i have seen an increase in confidence and an self belief.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I enjoying working in within the group as the people i work with are a good bunch to work with and help one another if needed. I have enjoyed the programme as it has allowed me to gain skills i could not gain in school or through university.

  • 4. How valued do you feel by AstraZeneca?
  • I feel that i am valued by the company and other employees as AstraZeneca are looking to take me on after the apprenticeship so want to give me the best oppurtunities and give me the most knowledge possible.

  • 5. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • I believe it is well structured as there is a wide variety of tasks to undertake that gives me a wide base of knowledge. The training officers provide a great deal of knowledge to the course as they are all ex-workers for big engineering sites and know almost everything about engineering on site.

  • 6a. How much support do you receive from your training provider?
  • i recieve a lot of support for if i need it and it is easy to ask the trainers as they are easily approachable

  • 6b. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • i recieve a good amount of support from my mentor on site who emails me weekly and i can contact him easily if needed.

  • 7. How well does your salary/package meet your costs?
  • very well, i have enough to spend on things i want and things i need as well as having some left to save.

  • 8. Are there many opportunities outside of work?
  • There arent many oppurtunities out of work at the moment as i am not on site so havent had the chance to look for anything outside of work.

  • 9. Would you recommend AstraZeneca to a friend?
  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • They are a huge company that treat their employees very well and i believe they are definetly the best company i could have been offered.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to AstraZeneca?
  • Just be confident and show that you can lead a small team on a the assessment day.
