I work as a lending officer in unsecured underwriting in the risk division. We make assessments for customer lending requests and decide whether to agree lending or not.
I have learnt skills in communication, project management and problem solving. I use these skills in my professional life and I wouldn't have been able to develop these if it weren't for my apprenticeship.
I do enjoy the programme I'm on I work with a great team and have loads of opportunities for progression. Especially through being invited to events all over the country and meeting new colleagues.
The company I worked for constantly expresses that they value all colleagues. My direct line of management makes me feel valued, however beyond that they do not. There is not many incentives for going the extra mile.
It is very well organised, my apprenticeship provider has a great line of communication with myself and my line manager. Therefore my job role and apprenticeship can both me managed on top of each other.
I receive a lot of support from her. She always replies to emails within a day, answers any questions that I have and comes to visit on a regular basis.
I also receive a lot of support from my employer. They are always happy to give me any extra time if needed, they are very flexible and provide me with any support or training that I need.
My salary supports my living costs currently however it does not give me any scope to save or move out of my parents house. Brighton is a very expensive location to live in, so any money I could save from my salary would not go very far here.
Yes. We get invited to many events in London and Birmingham. We also get involved in local community events.
Yes
I have had a pleasant experience working here, my line of management is very supportive and flexible.
The application process is lengthy and the interview day is intense. However remember an apprenticeship here is hard work so only apply if you are willing to commit to putting in a lot of extra work than you would for a regular job.
