I am currently a Team Manager within the Commercial Banking Client Delivery Client Servicing Team based in Edinburgh. I lead and manage a team of 15 colleagues who service Global Corporate and Financial Institution clients. My team support these clients with their day to day transactional banking queries which range from copy statement requests to international payment investigations. My role includes a variety of tasks including driving and developing colleague capabilities and building strong working relationships with key stakeholders from across the Commercial Bank to ensure we meet our client needs.
I am currently learning a mixture of new skills as well as developing my existing skills. My role changed slightly recently to coaching as well as line manager duties so this has been a good opportunity to brush up on old skills such as coaching, different learning styles, communicating and difficult conversations.
I am still fairly new to the programme however I am enjoying the variety of course work and training sessions so far. I have met a good network of colleagues who are also on the programme during the courses and we have been supporting each other. Despite the short space of time I have been studying I have already started putting my learning's into practise within the business.
I definitely feel valued by LBG. There has been a lot of press recently around the journey we have been on since the financial crash and I defiantly feel like I have been part of the journey and that the group recognises this. In terms of local recognition, my senior operations manager gives praise for a job well done most of the time. I was also recently nominated to attended a recognition lunch in Gresham St in London with Adrian White.
As previously advised, I am still fairly new to the programme. So far I think the programme is well structured however I have had minimal interaction with my coach. In terms of what is expected this has been covered with me and I understand what content makes up the programme.
I have had minimal interaction with my coach so far however she is due to visit me in April. She has had her initial call with me and I met her at a recent Kaplan course I attended in Glasgow. In fairness I have contacted her via email a couple of times and she has always responded to me.
My manager was really keen for me to complete the course. So far she has supported me and is really interested in what I am doing however the majority of the apprenticeship work has been done in my own time due to business challenges. I am currently working with my line manager to arrange study days.
I am satisfied with my salary and believe this is competitive within the market. I have worked within the group for 11 years now and have worked my way up the grades and pay scale. I am satisfied with our benefits including private medical care, staff mortgage and pay and bonus.
There are occasional team night outs and events out with work hours. In addition to this I like to go to the gym after work with colleagues from my team and attend fitness classes. I also like socialising with friends and family and going on foreign holidays. Last year I went to America for 3 weeks on my honeymoon!
Yes
As previously advised I am satisfied with Lloyds Reward package. I think LBG it is a good company to work for with a competitive salary and lots of opportunities. I joined the group after leaving school and in 10 years I have a variety of jobs and worked my way up.
I would advise them to include a full audit trail of the job experience since leaving education ensuring that there are no gaps. I would also advise them to ensure they detail the transferable skills which they can bring to the role. I would also recommend them to contact the hiring manager to get further details on the role and show your interest.
