I am a project assistant with the Retail Credit Risk team. This involved supporting a project manager on the delivery of a project. I communicate with various people, both internal and external and support the project admin which involves making sure project plans are up to date. I also support with preparing the project meetings .
Stakeholder communication has been a key skill to learn in this role as I've had to speak to external 3rd parties and also colleagues based off shore. I've also developed my time management skills by balancing by apprentice and project work
LBG is a great employer to work for the culture within the bank is excellent. Although on the apprentice scheme each apprentice have all had different experiences based on the team they have been allocated into. I have enjoyed my experience but it has been very different to others
There is a lot of recognition and support from line managers and everyone is keen to help you progress
The apprentice programme is still relatively new and always under changes so it is a little hit and miss in parts. The exam revision workshops I took part In were excellent and the trainer was very knowledgeable and helpful, which no doubt was a big part in me passing my exam. There could be a little more support for people struggling in their teams but as everyone has a different experience this can be hard to provide.
Workshops were held every few months to prepare for the exam and the trainer was excellent and helpful supporting away from the sessions by marking practice questions. Interaction with our regular assessor is quite minimal but probably is needed very much as they are external to the company and can't really help with internal challenges
I always have time to carry out my apprenticeship work and attend any events our courses that I might feel will benefit me. There could be a little more support from the apprentice team directly when wanting to ask questions around HR related matters but this is usually easily resolved.
Salary is very good for the role and location
I've been involved of lots of charity and inclusion events as well as volunteering days outside of the office. I've also been able to take time to go back to schools and promote apprenticeships
Yes
It's a great company to work for and when you are in the door the options and career routes are endless as there are so many different types of jobs and areas to move into. It is also great to work for an organisation where you feel like people want you to succeed
Some application processes can be quite lengthy so just be patient and don't get too worried if you don't hear back straight away. Do your research and be prepared, LBG is a huge organisation and there is so much information readily available to everyone so you should know your stuff. Be open minded about trying new things, there's so many different jobs to explore in Lloyds so just try it
